Liminal Space and the Transitory
Artist Statement
“Liminal space is defined as the feeling of being in a transitional space, at the threshold of the beginning and the end. Liminality can feel both comforting and disorienting, after all, you’re not meant to stay within this dimension.
“My life has felt like a constant in-between. I focused on finishing high school, then I was focused on transferring out from community college, now I’m focused on graduating and starting graduate school, and from there it’s expected I’ll focus on finding a job.
“I have never stopped to rest or enjoy the time I have currently. Through centering my practice in sitting in the liminality, this is my attempt at enjoying the present and reflecting on the moments that have brought me peace, sadness, and even anger. In this show, there are large relief prints as well as screen prints and Polaroid photos, both taken and reclaimed. The pieces are meant to take you through a journey, it’s best to try to enjoy it.”
