Rhyme and Reason
Selections from the Sacramento State Art Collection
February 13 - May 16, 2025
Rhyme and Reason: Selections from the Sacramento State Art Collection highlights the breadth and depth of the university's art collection. Curated by Kelly Lindner, Art Galleries and Collections Curator, the exhibition showcases works first assembled by founding Art Department faculty members in the 1960s as they established a collection of important art objects. The objective of this burgeoning collection was to provide first-hand experiences to students. The Art Collection continues its mission as a teaching collection and has expanded its holdings to over 1,000 objects. Works by Frank Stella and Jun Kaneko set a precedent for future donations including work by HC Westermann, Judith Linhares, Julia Couzens and Cathy Stone.
