SCHEDULE for Section 7 (TuTh, 1:30-2:45 am, AMD 308)
OUTLINE--Themes in World Geography, a course for Liberal Studies and Social
Science majors, introduces geography as a subject of study. It considers the
interests and skills which geographers bring to and develop within their chosen
discipline. It evaluates various representations of Earth--globes, maps--and
other tools that answer the characteristic geographic questions, "Where?" and
"Why there?"
Our look at locations will be followed by attention to other themes in world
geography--human-environment relations (e.g., resource geography), movement and
change (e.g., population geography), regions (e.g., spatial patterns of language
and religion), and places (e.g., urban geography).
