ATLAS ASSIGNMENT #1
OTHER SACRAMENTOS

California's Sacramento is not the only place with that name. For other SACRAMENTOs in the USA try USGS Place Information.

HINT: In "Feature Name" box on the web page form type "Sacramento"; use the arrow next to the box labelled "Feature Type" to choose "Populated Place"; then, click "Send Query" for a list.

To find SACRAMENTOs around the world try World Place Information.

HINT: Scroll down first web page to click on "Access GEOnet"; on the next page click "Gazetteer Search"; on the third page type "Sacramento" in the "Name" box, highlight one or more countries, and, further down, highlight "Populated Place" and click "Search". Hit "Reset" at the page bottom before starting a new search.

The Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names lists SACRAMENTOs.

Still another site for finding U.S. SACRAMENTOs is Places Named.
DISTANCES

Flat maps of large expanses of Earth's surface often distort distances. After using a flat map, look at a globe or find distances between places with How Far Is It? After measuring lines that are not straight, lines such as political boundaries or rivers or coastlines, turn to some "official" distance and length figures: The international Rio Grande? Texas-Mexico Border. The coastline of Florida: Florida State Symbols The Missouri's length: Missouri River InfoLINK
TIMES & SEASONS
Dates and times for this year's equinoxes and solstices? Try the U.S. Naval Observatory - Seasons.

A climate site for Western US stations, including Sacramento, is Western USA Climate Data You can find data for appropriate stations in tables that show Normal Daily Maximum Temperature, Degrees F, Normal Daily Minimum Temperature, Degrees F, and Normal Monthly Precipitation (Inches) A U.S. Map will also take you to data for specific cities. Use World Climate for worldwide comparisons.
