Oneirology

About the Exhibition

“Oneirology is the scientific approach to understanding dreams in relation to the functions of the brain.

“This series of work studies the approach to the dream state by correlating the human psyche and its impact on dreams. The dream state influenced by my memories, current emotions, and behavioral patterns that have affected my awaken state. Those dreams vary in process, yet my brain collects that data to compute my recent living experience.

“I use colors to ignite that translation of my subconscious to certain lucid emotions in the viewer. I create shapes that mimic the impressions of an object so that I can create an atmospheric ambiguity.

“The role of ambiguity in atmosphere is to lessen the boundary between the dream state and reality. For instance, water and air become blurred by their reversibility with the floating shapes that represent their molecules and the movement of currents.

“The process of monotype is cognitive to my system of thought by allowing the paper surface to develop fluidly, yet each mark is connected unapologetically to each layer as my thoughts take on new behavior. This body of work communicates that idea of the interrelation of dreams to address the psyche.“
