Pre-Commencement Reception for Graduating ECS Students
Date: Friday, May 20, 2022
Time: 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
The College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) is opening its doors the morning of Commencement on May 20th by welcoming graduating students and their families to visit the campus, see some classrooms and laboratories, and interact with faculty and staff and other students.
There will also be an opportunity for program chairs/directors to say a few words about the past year and to recognize our outstanding students. Attending faculty and staff as well as retiring faculty and staff will be recognized. Graduating students are encouraged to wear their regalia and take photos.
If you plan on attending, please let us know by using the Pre-Commencement Reception RSVP Form.
University College of Engineering and Computer Science Commencement Ceremonies begin downtown at the Golden 1 Center at 1:30 pm. For the University Commencement, doors open and student check in begins at 12:30 p.m.
9 a.m - Students and family meet with ECS Faculty and Staff
Time: 9:00 am
Location: Quad Area between Riverside and Santa Clara Halls
Activity: Students and family meet and interact with ECS Faculty and Staff. Some labs and classrooms will be open. Graduating students are encouraged to wear regalia including sashes from ECS clubs and campus affiliations. Light refreshments will be provided.
9:30 a.m. - Acknowledgements & Awards
Time: 9:30 am
Location: Steps at the Base of Guy West Bridge, near the northwest corner of Riverside Hall
Activities:
- Welcome and Opening Remarks
- Acknowledgement of Attending Faculty, Staff, and Administrators
- Outstanding Student Awards – Each Chair/Director or Designee (2 mins each)
- Acknowledge Retiring Faculty and Staff
- Closing Remarks
10 a.m. - Order of the Engineer Ring Induction Ceremony
Time: 10:00 am
Location: 1015 Riverside Hall (and virtually by Zoom)
Activity: Order of the Engineer Ring Induction Ceremony – optional for participating students, alumni, and industry professionals
- Participating students, alumni, and industry professionals will participate in the ring induction ceremony. Family and guests are welcome to attend.
- Advanced registration is required to receive a ring and certificate.
