Host Institution
The host institution for this project is University of The Bahamas (UB). UB has two main campuses: the Oakes Field Campus, located in the capital city of Nassau, New Providence, and the UB North Campus, located in Freeport, Grand Bahama, in addition to the Gerace Research Centre in San Salvador and additional centers on New Providence, Abaco, and Exuma. Faculty and students who will participate as partners in the IRES project are from the Small Island Studies Programme and the department of Chemistry, Environmental, and Life Sciences from both the UB-North and Oakes Field Campuses. Faculty members at UB participating in the IRES project have expertise in soil science, karst geomorphology, and plant science.
University of The Bahamas was chartered through an Act of Parliament in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in 2016. UB began as the College of The Bahamas in 1974. UB offers associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees, as well as diplomas and certificates.
