About The Martin Luther King Jr. Center
The MLK Center is a central hub for the exploration of African American heritage and culture. The overall Center is designed to foster an ethos of success that permeates the scholarly experience, the community and the world by setting a tone of change and lifelong improvement that inspires and fulfills the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Students.
The Center partners with local businesses and community organizations to assist students in making college and career connections. In addition, the MLK Center coordinates robust cultural programming to foster a sense of belonging, student inclusion, and cultural empowerment.
Equity Statement: As an inclusive campus which promotes student success for all, the services and programs of each student center are open and available for the entire campus populace. Through our rich diversity of perspective and background, we are friends and supporters to all paving the way of excellence and lighting the path of belonging.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholars Program
The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholars Program, established in Fall 2015, fosters leadership, mentorship, community advocacy, and legacy exploration. Through workshops on social justice, wellness, research, entrepreneurship, career success, and psychological well-being, the program supports African American students and those interested in African American heritage in achieving college success at Sacramento State.
