About the Center
Collaboratively build a collegial network of faculty, staff, students, and alumni who identify as first-generation and their supporters to promote, support, and advance first-generation student success while ensuring first-generation personal, professional, academic, and social college experiences are woven into the culture and climate of the university.
Partnerships and Resources
- National First-Generation College Celebration Week: a national week honoring the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
- First-Gen K-12 Regional Network: Stakeholders from K-12, two-four year colleges/universities in the Sacramento region focuses on increasing postsecondary access and success for first-generation students.
- First-Generation Student Success Symposium: a convening of scholar-practitioner, stakeholders, and supporters to generate, share, and advance the holistic success and challenges for first-generation students.
- First-Generation Success Initiatives such as FirstGen Awards, First-But Not Alone Stories, and Gen1 Student Club.
