Eligibility Criteria

EOP Admissions Income Criteria

Fall 2024: EOP Admissions Eligibility

Transfer Students Eligibility

  • Be an Upper Division Transfer student with 60 or more units and have a qualifying GPA
  • Be a California Resident or meet AB-540 eligibility
  • Be a First-Generation college applicant (parents and or guardians have not earned a 4-Year College Degree in the USA)
  • Have the following General Education Areas completed with a grade of C- or better;
    • A1- Oral Communications
    • A2- Written Communications
    • A3- Critical Thinking
    • B4- Quantitative Reasoning (Mathematics above Intermediate Algebra)
  • Apply for Admissions to Sacramento State (Transfer Students)
  • Respond to the EOP Biographical Questions on the EOP Tile on the Cal-State Application
  • Request two electronic Letters of Recommendation through the Cal-State Application
  • Submit a FAFSA and/or a CADAA Application to our campus
  • Meet the Student Aid Index amount for EOP

First-Time Freshmen Eligibility

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Be a California Resident or meet AB-540 eligibility
  • Be a First-Generation college applicant (parents and or guardians have not earned a 4-Year College Degree in the USA)
  • *Earn a grade of C or higher in the “A-G” subjects and have a qualifying 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Apply for Admissions to Sacramento State (First-Year Students)
  • Respond to the EOP Biographical Questions on the EOP Tile on the Cal-State Application
  • Request two electronic Letters of Recommendation
  • Submit a FAFSA and or a CADAA Application to our campus
  • Meet the Student Aid Index amount for EOP
* Students who meet all the EOP Admissions requirements above but have a lower GPA will be reviewed in a case-by-case scenario for Admissions to our program.

Fall 2024: Important Deadlines

STEP 1:

Apply for Admissions to Sacramento State, respond to the EOP Biographical questions, and request two electronic EOP Letters of Recommendation via the Cal State Online Application between October 1 to December 15, 2023.

STEP 2:

Submit the 2024-2025 FAFSA and/or Dream Act Application between October 1, 2023, to March 2, 2024.

STEP 3:

EOP Applicants must meet the Student Aid Index

STEP 4:

Two recommenders must submit the electronic EOP Letters of Recommendation via the Cal State Online Application by January 15, 2024.

STEP 5:

EOP Admittance notification will be available to students via the “My SacState” email in early March 2024.

STEP 6:

Admitted students to the program must accept their EOP Student Agreement Form by May 1, 2024.

EOP Biographical Questions

  1. Briefly describe your family's economic background. Include information about your financial challenges.
  2. Why would you like to attend college? Discuss your career and personal goals. Are there any circumstances, school experiences, or people that influenced your preparation or motivation to attend college (e.g., cultural/financial background, family, teachers, schools you attended)? Please explain.
  3. Briefly discuss your academic background. Did you utilize any additional support at your high school, such as tutoring? Do your grades in high school and/or college reflect your academic ability or potential?
  4. List any volunteer, extracurricular activities, or work experience in which you are or have been involved in the past two years.
  5. Is there any additional information you would like EOP to consider in determining your admission to the program?
