The TECH4Teaching&Learning project builds Sacramento State's technological capacity to face increasing student demand for online course options and stay competitive in an evolving higher education landscape.

Our overarching goal is to increase enrollment, retention/persistence, and graduation rates for students.

US Department of Education Award

The TECH4Teaching&Learning project and the contents of this webpage have been developed and implemented in full through a grant ($3 Million) from the US Department of Education. Award Number P031S230256, Award Period 2023 to 2028.

These grants enable institutions to expand and enhance their academic offerings, program quality, and institutional stability.

TECH4Teaching&Learning – increasing Sacramento State’s Online presence

TECH4Teaching&Learning aims to expand our flexible, online course options that align with customized online wraparound student support services. We implement two campus-wide strategies:

  • Redesign quality online courses in critical General Education (GE) and Engineering pathways to increase pass rates for students in courses with a high fail rate and high enrollment.
  • Expand digital and AI-supported resources to build on personalized tutoring and advising relationships that contribute to student persistence.

TECH4Teaching&Learning Strategies and Activities

Strategy 1: Critical Pathway Course Redesign

Activities:

Faculty Learning Communities. Develop curriculum and provide online, culturally responsive AI-informed training.

Minigrants for GE and Engineering redesign. Develop RFP, recruit and select faculty applicants to redesign targeted courses.

Course redesign in GE and Engineering. Implement courses and serve students. QM review and certification. Review courses to ensure they meet the highest standards.

Strategy 2: Digital Resource and Innovation Program

Activities:

Online Supplemental Instruction. Build online SI courses to support high-fail, highenrollment GE and Engineering courses, train SI leaders and implement SI courses.

Computer Loan Program. Students borrow computers and laptops working with trained peer advisors and wraparound services.

AI-Supported Peer Advising Retention Campaign. Contact students to resolve registration holds, other needed advising with chatbot and peer advisor.
