HSI INSPIRE - Peer Programs
The leadership and contributions that Sacramento State students bring to their own success is showcased in the many student peer programs on campus. The DHSI INSPIRE Network for Peer Assisted Student Success establishes a structured network of student-to-student peer programs that will maximize collective impact and optimize customization of services to serve all Sacramento State students more efficiently and comprehensively.
Academic Support
- Peer-Assisted Learning The PAL program serves over 1200 students annually, raising their pass rate by 15%.
- PARC Supplemental Instruction PARC SI is an academic support program for students who are enrolled in historically challenging general education (GE) courses.
- Academic Technology Services Through the ATS, you can learn and apply technology in a guided or self-guided format and count on responsive consultation and support.
- TRIO/DAC Peer Transitional Coaching TRIO/DAC Peer Transitional Coaching Program help eases the experience and transition of incoming students to Sac State.
Mentoring & Advising Programs
- Science Education Equity (SEE) Program The SEE Program is a comprehensive academic support program for students who face social, economic and educational barriers to careers in the health professions, science research and science teaching.
- Full Circle Project The Full Circle Project aims to assist students throughout his or her entire college careers, and provide ample opportunities to engage in service both on and off campus to enhance their university experience.
- First Year Experience (FYE) Peer Mentors
- Peer Mentors assist first year students by serving as an academic peer advisor, a resource to the campus and community, and a mentor to assist with the transition to Sacramento State.
- First Year Experience (FYE) Space Space in the library for first year college students to study, meet others, and get support during their first year of college.
- Peer Led Advising College Experience (PLACE) PLACE provides peer led supplemental advising for all students on campus.
- National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA) Peer Undergraduate Mentoring Program The NSSLHA Peer Undergraduate Mentoring Program was established to match experienced students in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSAD) with junior-level CSAD students or those interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree in CSAD. Senior students provide mentoring in the areas of academics, cultural competence, and professional behavior, and provide social support to allow students to become increasingly competent in the major.
- CAMP Leaders Internship Program The CAMP Leaders Internship Program is designed to foster the development of CAMP students through peer-to- peer mentoring, professional development, and relationship building. Our ultimate goal is to ensure Leaders' continuous growth and long term contribution to CAMP and their community while simultaneously creating tomorrow's leaders.
Coaching & Ambassador Programs
- Commit to Study The Commit to Study Program is focused on improving NSM students' success by changing their approach to study skills.
- First Year Experience First year experience makes the first year of college great for all Sac State students with peer mentoring, First Year Seminars, & Learning Communities.
- DEGREES Project The DEGREES Project is an outreach and intervention program designed to provide support for academic success and timely graduation for our campus' first-generation, low-income students. Our program has coaches across the seven academic colleges to provide tailored advising and assistance.
