Alyson R. Buckman's (Humanities and Religious Studies) "Intersectional Humanism and Star Trek: Discovery: Warping Toward a Connected Future" has finally been published by Rowman and Littlefield in hardcover and e-book editions: Intersectional Humanism and Star Trek: Discovery: Warping into a Connected Future - 9781666905298 (rowman.com). Buckman argues that "Discovery" generally goes beyond the liberal humanism of its predecessors in the franchise to establish a more intersectional future. Threading discussion of race, gender, sexuality and ability throughout, the text contains chapters on parenting, leadership, posthumanism and becoming animal, posthumanism and becoming machine, intimacy, and trauma and thus is relevant to a wide variety of disciplinary approaches.
