Shinshu University, Japan
Shinshu University was founded in May 1949, and has since become known as one of the leading universities in Japan. It is located in Nagano Prefecture, which is famous for its natural beauty, the Matsumoto Castle, and as the site of the 1998 Winter Olympics. The campus is situated just a 1.5 hour train ride from Tokyo and is accessible to cities throughout the main island of Honshu. Exchange students will be able to deepen their understanding of Japanese language and culture while enjoying the peaceful and welcoming environment that Nagano offers its visitors.

Academic Eligibility
- 2.75 GPA or higher at the time of application
- One semester completed at Sacramento State
- Sophomore or higher standing (30+ units completed)
Course Information
Students will take classes through the GEC (Center for Global Education and Collabroation), and those with proven proficiency in Japanese may also select courses from the regular university catalog.

Housing Options
International Houses - International Houses are located in Matsumoto City and Nagano City. International students and researchers can live in these houses. (~5,000JPY/month + fees)
Student Dormitories - There are student dormitories in each area. In these dormitories, international
students live together with Japanese students. (~32,000JPY/month + fees)
Apartments - Apartments in Japan are usually unfurnished. If you want to live in a private
apartment, you should check the room in advance. (~20,000JPY/month + fees)
