Course Content: Introduction to basic two-dimensional composition.

Course Objectives: Development of two-dimensional composition skills necessary to create form/space relationships through the use of line, value, shape, color, texture, and space. On exiting the course, the student will achieve an understanding of the basic fundamentals of two-dimensional composition.

Requirements: Completion of all assignments. Refer to my website for project information. No late assignments accepted; however, once turned in, an assignment can be re-worked for a better grade. Necessary materials must be brought to class. Reading and sketchbook homework assignments will be given each week. Writing assignments will be included in the sketchbook homework. Class assignments are presented in the portfolio, which will be reviewed throughout the semester. There will be a total of four multiple-choice quizzes based on the reading and one outside class project. Regular attendance, make-up work for absences. A maximum of 2 absences are allowed--every unauthorized absence thereafter will result in a .5 reduction in the total grade average. (Note: three tardies = one absence). Special consideration is given to unavoidable absences. See instructor for make-up requirement. Course outline is subject to modification depending on student response.
• Pagers or cell phones are not allowed to be on inside the classroom

Grading Policy: Refer to current CSUS Catalogue Academic Policies for definitions of grade symbols: http://www.csus.edu/admbus/umanual/UMG05150.htm Grades are dependent upon evaluation of all course work completed (inside and out of class), attendance, & participation in discussions, class projects, and critiques.
