Planetary Magnetic Fields: Jupiter

We have already seen, by the presence of aurora on Jupiter, and from spacecraft visits, that the planet has a magnetic field

• The magnetic field around Jupiter is enormous, with a strength some 20,000 times greater than that of Earth!
• The magnetosphere is some 1200 times larger in size than that found around the Earth!  Note to the size of the Sun in the figure below (the white circle).
