Week 5 Homework:

  1. Create a lesson in the Taskstream lesson builder. (Use the TS basic lesson format in TaskStream). Try to think of the lesson within the context of the proposed unit you are developing. (It may not be the first lesson in the unit.) Due at the beginning of next week's class. You will work with peers to review and revise.
      • Fill in all of the fields of the lesson builder. It needs to be written as though a substitute teacher will be teaching the lesson.
      • What standards are reflected in this lesson (content---more than one subject area?, technology) (Technology standards for students can be found in Taskstream under US, ISTE student literacy and then the grade level).
      • There should be a relationship between the standards and the objectives; the procedures should reflect your objectives/standards and your rubric/evaluation should reflect both your procedures and your objectives/standards.
      • If you have handouts that students will use, they should be included in the lesson.
      • Procedures are usually numbered and have enough directions that a substitute can carry out your lesson. If you say "discuss", several major questions should be included.
      • Include assessment and either create or adapt an appropriate rubric.

  2. Finish Quiz 2 and email as an attachment to me by regular email or Taskstream email. This is due 24 hours before next week's class. Bring your book to class each week. Please include T or W or Th in your message on the email along with the topic of the email.

3. Read Chapters 3 and 4: Standards-Based Curriculum and Assessment Design and Authentic Assessment in Becoming a Better Teacher

4. Discussion Board:

    1. How have you reacted to the rubrics that we have used in this class (discussion rubric, webquest rubric, unit rubric...)?
    2. What is "research"? What kind of research can K-12 students do? (everyone respond to this).
    3. Respond to any other past discussion topics.
