7:25 Use the web below:

Simple Deductive Logic

7:25 - 7:50 Read and respond.  You can enter your responses and copy and paste paragraphs into the text area in Tapped In.  You can also copy these responses to a note in Tapped In.  Other than that, the form has not been made interactive.  It is in this format for your convenience.

7:50 - 8:10 Share and discuss items on the Simple Deductive Logic web.  A recorder for the group should provide a synopsis for the larger discussion later tonight.

8:10 Use the web below:

Tough Puzzles

8:10 - 8:30  Explore Tough Puzzles (There are easier puzzles on this web if you prefer) on your own.  Consider the thinking skills required to succeed with these puzzles.  The Tough Puzzles website contains some problems that can be extremely frustrating to novice problem solvers.  Our intent in exposing you to this level of difficulty is not to make you feel inadequate as there are easier puzzles you may choose to explore.  Rather, our intent is to have a meaningful discussion about what needs to be considered when solving puzzling problems.  If we don't consider the preparation, strategies, commitment and thinking involved in problematic situations, we cannot expect to understand how our students will deal with the problems we present to them in a learning context.

8:30 Take a break.

8:40 - 9:00  In preparation for the final discussions tonight, discuss how thinking skills can be integrated into the curriculum through webs such as the ones explored in these last two TI sessions.  Suggest other webs you may have used. Below is an example illustrating how at least two logical processes (deductive and inductive thinking) can be seamlessly built into a curriculum in an engaging task.

Money Talks!

To further facilitate your discussions, revisit Dr. Hannah's Framework for Instruction and Learning. Consider the interplay between attitudes and values and thinking processes as an extension of last night's perceptive comments.
