Culture Repair Projects
The Culture Repair Project asks you to analyze one of the assigned historical records of Asian practice, paying attention the interaction of the three elements of culture. You then draw on what you learned to write and/or draw a set of instructions that could be used to facilitate the similar activity described in the relevant scenario. You have three opportunities to complete a project, one for each unit; the two highest scores count towards your grade.
Step IV: Peer Review & Analysis of Peer Comments
Once you have completed PW I - III
- bring a printed copy of it with you on the day it is due;
- make sure your PWs include the last two "Peer Review" pages;
- exchange your PWs with a team member or someone else in the class.
NOTE: If for any reason you are not able to have someone else in the class review your PWs, you can also (i) find a friend or family member who would be willing to read and comment on the paper; or (ii) make an appointment to have your work reviewed at the Writing Center in Calaveras Hall, Room 128.
You will now need to
- review whatever parts of your classmate's paper you did not finish reviewing and return it to her or him the next class period.
IMPORTANT: make a BACKUP PLAN for exchanging the papers in case one of your misses the next class.
- THE ALL-IMPORTANT FINAL STEP: fill out your portion at the end of the Peer Review section, which asks you to analyze (i) which reviewer comments are mos helpful; (ii) what you will do about them; and (iii) other needed clarifications based on your own rereading.
Assessment: A completed peer review of PWs, including the writer's analysis of the reviewer comments, will receive 10 out of the total number of points for the assignment; this assessment will be made at the time the PWs are turned in with the final report (Step V). No partial credit will be given; unreviewed or incomplete forms will be returned without points.
