Culture Repair Projects
The Culture Repair Project asks you to analyze one of the assigned historical records of Asian practice, paying attention the interaction of the three elements of culture. You then draw on what you learned to write and/or draw a set of instructions that could be used to facilitate the similar activity described in the relevant scenario. You have three opportunities to complete a project, one for each unit; the two highest scores count towards your grade.
Step III: Brainstorm Lessons from the Historical Record for the Facilitation Plan
Once you have completed PW I and annotated the corresponding historical record (see PW II), complete all parts of the "Planning Worksheet III" (PW III —> PDF/MS Word), which guides you in drawing on the historical source to suggest adaptations to the corresponding scenario activity.
CAUTION: Check that the number of your chosen historical record in the schedule & relevant reading guidematches your chosen scenario activity (1, 2 or 3). ***If the numbers do not match, the practices do not correspond*** and you will need to adjust your choice accordingly. Also, make sure that the corresponding practices you choose are dealt with in the unit just completed (India
for Unit 1, China for Unit 2).
IMPORTANT: leave the final, Peer Review section of the worksheet **BLANK**! Someone else will fill this out as part of step 4.
Assessment: A completed set of worksheets I-III (apart from the peer review) will receive 15 out of the total number of points for the assignment; this assessment will be made at the time the PWs are turned in with the final report (Step V). No partial credit will be given; incomplete forms will be returned without points.
