HornetAttain! Community Impact
Increasing educational attainment supports equity and inclusion, economic development, workforce advancement, civic engagement and regional health outcomes through one initiative.
- 5 million working-age adults in California and 350,000 in the Sacramento Region started college but didn’t complete their degree (some college, no degree)
- The some college, no degree population is disproportionately people of color, women, first-generation college students, and single parents
- The post-secondary educational attainment rate among working-age adults is only 51%, but it’s even lower among Black (36%) and Latinx (20%) adults
- By 2025, California will have predicted shortfall of 1.1 million individuals with bachelor’s degrees
- Re-engaging the some college, no degree population is one of the quickest ways to address this shortfall
- To remain competitive in retaining and recruiting companies and investment to the Sacramento region, we must address current, and future workforce needs.
“We need you to complete that degree. It dramatically improves the profile and reputation of our community and supports your community’s effort to grow a sustainable economy.”
Barry Broome, Greater Sacramento Economic Council President & CEO Barry Broome
