Dave and I came to Sacramento in 1983 so he could take a position in the Communication Studies Department at CSUS. Because of my corporate experience as a trainer I was eventually asked to teach a class in Small Group Communication in the department as a part time instructor. Thereafter I focused on teaching a GE course, Com Studies, 5 “The Communication Experience” mostly to first semester freshmen.

Other campus activities included assisting in directing the Professors' Peer Coaching Program from 1986 to 2001 and serving as interim director of the Center for Teaching and Learning from 1997-1998. I also served on the Academic Senate as a representative of part-time faculty

I felt lucky to be asked to participate in faculty development programs and activities, and was especially proud of my work on the Conference on Teaching and Learning in 2000.

My experience teaching in the Learning Communities Program from 1995 to 2010 brought me joy and satisfaction. In addition to my affection for this program, I look back fondly and gratefully on all my associations with colleagues and my connections to students. What a rich array of talents and personalities was available to me to interact with every day!

In retirement I have been staying involved in organizations that I believe in: The CSUS Retirees Association and the Board of Directors of College Town Apartments are two. And I have been working on keeping fit. Here's a pitch for becoming a member of the Northeast Family YMCA in Sacramento!
