Transportation Resources

Students may ride all Sacramento RT fixed-route transit services, including light rail, by presenting a valid Sac State OneCard and the student commuter sleeve. Students pay a nominal fee for this service through their registration fees.

River City Food Bank

The CEC has partnered with River City Food Bank to bring this incredible opportunity for Sac State students to volunteer to prepare and distribute food to unhoused, low-income and displaced families in our communities this year!

Midtown: 4.5 miles from campus. 10 minutes via Light Rail (65th to 29th &R station, midtown site).

Arden-Arcade: 6 miles from campus.

Term: February 17th - May 11th

Location: Midtown site or Arden-Arcade site.

Days Offered: Tuesday - Friday (choose one day or multiple)

Times: Varies, depends on day

Sac State Sustainability

The CEC has partnered with Sac State Sustainability to bring this wonderful opportunity for Sac State students to volunteer as gardeners on campus. The food harvested will be given to the Sac State Food Pantry.

15 minute walk from campus library.

Term: February 17th - May 11th

Location: Sac State Campus, CAP Radio Garden

Day Offered: Thursdays

Time: 1:30-3:30

Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary

The CEC has partnered with Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary to bring this exciting opportunity for Sac State students to volunteer directly with homeless and abused cats. Maintain a clean and healthy environment, socialize with special cats, and contribute to the goal of giving these animals a second chance!

1.0 mile from campus. 22 minute walk via Hornet Xing path.

Term: February 17th - May 11th

Location: Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary

Days Offered: Monday - Sunday (choose one day)

Times: Varies, depends on day

ACC Senior Services

The CEC has partnered with ACC Senior Services for student to volunteer directly with our senior community, assisting with fun and engaging activities!

13 miles from campus.

Location: ACC Main Campus

Times: Varies, depends on day

Mustard Seed School

The CEC has partnered with Mustard Seed School (program of Sacramento Loaves & Fishes) to bring a special opportunity for Sac State Students to volunteer with children experiencing homelessness. Help students with schoolwork/art/reading, play with them at recess, and assist in the classroom!

5.6 miles from campus. Bus routes and light rail routes available.

Term: February 17th - May 11th

Location: Mustard Seed School

Days Offered: Monday - Friday (choose one day or multiple)

Times: 8:40am-12pm or 11:40am-2:30pm

Maryhouse

The CEC has partnered with Maryhouse (program of Sacramento Loaves & Fishes) for volunteers to work directly with women and families who are experiencing homelessness. Assist staff with running daily programs and create meaningful connections with community members.
