Dr. Rogers Discusses His Transdisciplinary Program at Sac State

February 28, 2025

Dr. Rogers discussed his Invention Education course at Sacramento State, which brings together Sociology, Engineering, and Business students to identify community problems, design solutions, and develop business plans for their inventions. Students work in transdisciplinary teams in these courses to create practical innovations that correspond to the needs of community members, putting at the forefront the stories and lives of the people students engage with every single day. Dr. Rogers is also committed to expanding students’ career options, especially into STEM and Tech industries, where sociologists/social science are needed and welcomed in an ever-changing environment where more innovative solutions require a sociological imagination to fix real-world problems.
