Anthropology

Scholarships will be awarded at our annual conference.

Scholarship Name Description
Academic Achievement Awarded to the graduating Anthropology major who has the best overall performance as a student.
John W. Connor Scholarship Awarded in consort with Dr. John W. Connor to the Anthropology Major with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).
Edgar Lee Jordan Anthropology Scholarship Instituted in memory of Professor Edgar Lee Jordan, this award recognizes the potential contribution by an anthropology student to the field of Anthropology via participation in research, presentation to a conference, and/or participating in a field school. It also offers an undergraduate award
George Rich Graduate Scholarship Instituted in memory of Professor George Rich, this award recognizes the potential contribution by an anthropology graduate student to the field of Cultural and/or Linguistic Anthropology through their research focus.

Asian Studies

Scholarhip Name Description
Mishra Family Scholarships Awarded to Sac State Students majoring in Asian Studies.
Professor Thomas Swift Asian Studies Scholarship Created by Professor Thomas Swift, a history professor at Sacramento State from 1966 to 1998, for Asian Studies majors.
Mishra Family Study Abroad Scholarship Awarded to Asian Studies majors or minors who are studying abroad.

Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program

Scholarship Name Description
Carol J Barbee Scholarship Awards to students for tuition, books, and lab fees only. Priority will be given to Social Science and Liberal Studies majors.
LaVera J. Gaston Scholarship Awards to support students participating in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program.
Anna J. Cooper - Carter G. Woodson Book Scholarship Provides book scholarships for students participating in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program.
Chris Glenn Cooper-Woodson College Scholarship Awards to support students participating in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program. 
George Floyd Emergency Grant This fund honors the memory of George Floyd and is intended to provide philanthropic support for students who are experiencing a trauma/crisis while attending Sac State.

Economics

The John G. Ranlett Memorial Scholarship in Economics  Awards for undergraduate Economics students.
The Robert L. and Chi-Ming Dana Curry Scholarship Open to undergraduate (juniors and seniors) and graduate students pusuing a major in Economics.
Rod Swanson Scholarship Awards for juniors and seniors in the Economics major.

Environmental Studies

Patrick James Dugal Memorial Scholarship To honor the memory of Patrick James Dugal, the Dugal family has established a scholarship for students pursuing a profession in the Environmental Studies field.
Thomas Swift Environmental Studies Scholarship The Swift Endowed Scholarship was created by Professor Thomas Swift, a history professor at Sacramento State from 1966 to 1998, intended to support students at Sac State who are majoring in Environmental Studies.  

Ethnic Studies

Scholarship Name Description
Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation Scholarship Offered to students from any major who have taken at least one course in Native American Studies. Preference is given to citizens of Native American Nations.
Lesego Mosupyoe Memorial Scholarship Scholarship awards for students in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program.
Thomas Swift Asian American Studies Scholarship Professor Thomas Swift, a history professor at Sac State from 1966 to 1998, created this scholarship to support Asian American Studies students.
Nakatani Asian American Studies Scholarship Available for students of any major who have demonstrated a commitment and potential for leadership in the Asian American community.

Gerontology

Scholarhip Name Description
Art & Phoebe German Gerontology Scholarship Awards to support students majoring in Gerontology.
Dolores J. Eitel Gerontology Scholarship Provides 3 - $1,000 awards to Gerontology majors.
Eskaton Leadership & Diversity Scholarship Created to help develop a diverse workforce for aging service providers in the region by supporting underrepresented students in Gerontology.
Gerontology Department Scholarship Provides direct support for students who intend to continue in the Gerontology field by employment or by pursuing an Applied Masters in Gerontology, Nursing, Public Health, or Social Work.
Osborne Stearns Gerontology Scholarship Assists students with an interest in gerontology and working with the senior population.

Political Science

Christopher Dyer-Bennet Scholarship Recognizes the outstanding student in student groups, such as the Political Theory Forum.
College Futures Foundation  Scholarship Provides awards to students in Political Science, including those with a concentration in International Relations.
Donald R. Gerth Scholarship in Political Science Encourages the study of government and international relations through financial assistance to outstanding students.
Douglas E. McDaniel Memorial Scholarship Honors the memory of Douglas E. McDaniel and assists Political Science students with a concentration in International Relations.
Jack Livingston Fellow in Political Theory & American Institutions Scholarship Honors the memory of Professor John C. “Jack” Livingston and the ideals in which he believed.
Professor R. Jeffrey Lustig Memorial Prize Scholarship Recognizes students on the basis of an undergraduate research paper on social and political theory, university politics, and/or California politics.
Robert G. Thompson Memorial Scholarship Honors the memory of Robert G. Thompson, Government professor emeritus, and assists students through financial support.
Thomas Swift Political Science/Journalism Scholarship Created by Professor Thomas Swift, a history professor at Sacramento State from 1966 to 1998, this scholarship supports Political Science students concentrating in journalism.
Wade R. Smith Memorial Scholarship Created in honor of Wade R. Smith, who was a professor in the Department of Political Science at Sacramento State, this scholarship supports Political Science students.

Psychology

Applied Behavior Consultants Awards for students who have completed coursework in applied behavior analysis.
Douglas Michell Scholarship awards to support undergraduate students majoring in Psychology.
Duane E.C. Johnson Memorial Scholarship awards to support juniors or seniors majoring in Psychology.
June Gersten Memorial Scholarship in Psychology Provides financial assistance to students in the Psychology Masters program.

Public Policy & Administration

Designing Our Future Graduate Student Scholarship This scholarship will provide a merit-based award to recognize and support graduate student accomplishments in the Department of Public Policy and Administration.
GASPPA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship The Graduate Association of Students in Public Policy & Administration is intended to encourage the study of subjects that empower future leaders for diverse, equitable, and inclusive policies, problem-solving, analysis, and practices.
