welcomes Dr. Shane Nordyke as its new Chairperson

Dr. Shane Nordyke earned her PhD in Public Policy from Indiana University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Studies from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. She has been a professor at the University of South Dakota (USD) since 2008 and primarily teaches courses on public policy and research methods. She was the Allene R. Chiesman Distinguished Professor of Democracy and the Director of the Chiesman Center for Democracy at USD from 2019-2024. From 2014 to 2020 she directed the Government Research Bureau at USD and from 2016-2020 she co-edited the Journal of Political Science Education for the American Political Science Association. In 2020, she was awarded the Belbas Larson Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her research focuses on planning and evaluation within the public sector and the scholarship of teaching and learning. In 2019, she published Planning and Evaluation for Public Safety Leaders: A Toolkit with Routledge Press.
