Campus Educational Equity Committee
Appointed by: College-wide Nomination and Election process
FACULTY ELIGIBLE TO SERVE: All faculty
MEETINGS: 3rd Thursday of the month from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
TERM: Two (2) years with the possibility of reappointment. This spring, the terms are being adjusted to allow for half of the membership to be appointed each year. Half will be appointed for one-year (F 2019 – Sp 2020) with appointments for the full two-years beginning Spring 2020. The other half of the membership will be appointed for the full two-years (F 2019 – Sp 2021).
SEATS: 1
RESPONSIBILITY: The Committee reviews and provides recommendations on Educational Equity programs and activities within the University. The Committee also considers new directions and ways to improve the qualitative strength of Educational Equity efforts. Committee for Educational Equity policy.
WORKLOAD: The committee requires involvement outside the committee structure equating to about 1-3 hours per month to assist with sub-committee work. The workload is spread evenly throughout the Fall and Spring terms with work not occurring during non-peak times such as during summer and winter breaks.
Council on Preparation of School Personnel Subcommittee
Appointed by: College-wide Nomination and Election process
FACULTY ELIGIBLE TO SERVE: All Faculty
Two (2) Faculty Representatives with one member representing the Liberal Studies Program. Members should represent subject matter programs that lead to a Single or/or Multiple Subject credential.
MEETINGS: 2nd Wednesday of the month from 1:00 – 3:00 pm
TERM: Three (3) years with the possibility of reappointment.
SEATS: 2
RESPONSIBILITY: The Committee is responsible for the review of policies and programs pertaining to the Subject Matter Programs, Blended Programs, and Professional Education Programs. See CPSPS information here.
WORKLOAD: Course lists are distributed prior to meetings. The number of course proposals to be reviewed ranges each week. The average workload would be about 2-3 hours of review work outside of the meeting itself. The work is spread out across the academic year.
Exceptional Assigned Time Subcommittee

FACULTY ELIGIBLE TO SERVE: All Faculty
MEETINGS; Spring semester, 2-3 meetings, scheduled based on committee members availability.
TERM: Two (2) year term. This spring, the terms are being adjusted to allow for half of the membership to be appointed each year. Half will be appointed for one-year (F 2019 – Sp 2020) with appointments for the full two-years beginning Spring 2020. The other half of the membership will be appointed for the full two-years (F 2019 – Sp 2021).

RESPONSIBILITY: The Committee administers the Assigned Time for Exceptional Levels of Service to Students Awards and recommends procedures relating to the Awards to the Faculty Policies Committee. See Exceptional Assigned Time committee information here.
WORKLOAD: Depending on the number of applications, members spend approximately 3-4 hours reviewing applications outside of the meeting; in addition to a two-hour meeting to discuss applications and select award recipients.
General Education Course Review Subcommittee
Appointed by: College-wide nomination and election process
FACULTY ELIGIBLE TO SERVE: All faculty
MEETINGS: 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, 3:00-4:30 pm
TERM: Three (3) year term - staggered.
RESPONSIBILITY: The General Education Course Review Subcommittee, a subcommittee of the General Education Policies/Graduation Requirements Committee (GE/GRPC), is responsible for reviewing and recommending courses for inclusion in the General Education Program. It further develops definitions and evaluation standards pertaining to area criteria and undertakes periodic reviews (every 2 years) of area and sub-area criteria, definitions, and standards as required by current University policy. Peer Review Committee
Appointed by: The Dean
TERM: One (1) year
Pursuant to Provision 4.03F of our University ARTP policy, a Peer Review Committee (PRC) must be formed to be able to respond to requests by faculty members undergoing RTP review to place new material into a faculty member’s WPAF after the date the file has been declared closed.
Research and Creative Activity Committee
FACULTY ELIGIBLE TO SERVE: All faculty
MEETINGS: Wednesdays from 11:00 – 12:00 pm
TERM: Three (3) years with the possibility of reappointment.
SEATS: 1
RESPONSIBILITY: The Subcommittee administers the Research and Creative Activity Award Program, the Outstanding Scholarly Achievement Award, and the University Award for Research and Creative Activity. See RCA information here.
WORKLOAD:
- Attend approximately 10 1-hour meetings per semester, on Wednesdays from
11-12. - Reading RCA applications (each committeee member reviews approx. 6 proposals, each review requiring 30-60 minutes)
- Attend RCA Review Day (3 hours in January)
- Requesting references for Univ Award nominees (approx. 1-2 hours over the year)
- Reviewing applications and reference for Univ Award nominees (approx. 3-4 hours per year)
- Reviewing post-grant RCA reports (approx. 2 hours per year)
- Review of other materials under discussion by the committee (approx. 5 hours per year)
Total: Approx 22 hours per semester (or 1.5 hours per week)
Sabbatical Leave Committee
Appointed by: College-wide nomination and election process
FACULTY ELIGIBLE TO SERVE: Tenured
MEETINGS: Typically two meetings are held during fall semester: one to orient new members (1 hour, early fall semester) and one to deliberate on applications (3 hours, final week); and one meeting is held during spring semester to sign off on sabbatical (1.5 hours). Meetings are scheduled based on committee members’ availability. Faculty previously elected to membership on the Committee who apply for sabbatical leaves shall become ineligible to serve during the year in which their application is to be considered and shall be replaced for the remainder of their term by an appropriate election.
TERM: 3 year-term
SEATS: 1
RESPONSIBILITY: The Committee is responsible for reviewing all sabbatical leave applications and sabbatical leave final reports and making recommendations on each to the Provost.
WORKLOAD: The review of sabbatical applications (between 50 to 65 in recent years) may take anywhere from 20-30 total hours depending on the reviewer. This work is conducted by individual committee members between mid-October, when applications are made available to the Committee, to final week of fall semester when the Committee meets to deliberate.
University Appointment, Retention, Tenure, and Promotion Committee
Appointed by: College-wide nomination and election process
FACULTY ELIGIBLE TO SERVE: Tenured
MEETINGS: 1st and 3rd Mondays, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.
TERM: 3 years, may be reappointed. - Appointee serves a staggered three year term.
SEATS: 2
RESPONSIBILITY: The Committee reviews and recommends directly to the President, department, division and college criteria, policies, and procedures applicable to the evaluation of faculty unit employees for the purpose of appointment, retention, tenure, and promotion. Advises the President on the allocation of all university promotion monies. Recommends to the President the annual ARTP calendar prior to the end of the spring semester. Forwards any recommended changes to University ARTP policy through the Faculty Senate to the President.
WORKLOAD: : In addition to attendance at monthly meetings of the UARTP Committee, each member of the Committee serves on a sub-committee to review policy documents from colleges and or departments. The amount of time spent is dependent on the number of documents before the full committee for review. Documents under review must be turned around within 30 days - each committee member can expect to spend an additional 3-4 hours each month.
Wang Family Excellence Award Subcommittee
Appointed by: College-wide nomination and election process
FACULTY ELIGIBLE TO SERVE: Full-time tenured faculty
MEETINGS: Fall semester: One to two meetings based on members availability.
TERM: Two (2) year term. This spring, the terms are being adjusted to allow for half of the membership to be appointed each year. Half will be appointed for one-year (F 2019 – Sp 2020) with appointments for the full two-years beginning Spring 2020. The other half of the membership will be appointed for the full two-years (F 2019 – Sp 2021).

RESPONSIBILITY: The Wang Family Excellence Award celebrates those CSU faculty and administrators who through extraordinary commitment and dedication have distinguished themselves by exemplary contributions and achievements in their academic disciplines and areas of assignment.” The Subcommittee is responsible for the administration of the Wang Family Excellence Award. WORKLOAD: Outside of meetings, 2-3 hours are spent reviewing nominations.
Writing and Reading Subcommittee

FACULTY ELIGIBLE TO SERVE: All faculty
MEETINGS: 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, 10:30 – 11:30 am
TERM: 3 years
SEATS: 8
RESPONSIBILITY: The Writing and Reading Subcommittee, a subcommittee of the General Education/Graduation Requirement Policies Committee (GE/GRPC), is charged with reviewing and making recommendations to CPC related to, and advising departments, programs, Academic Affairs, and the Center for Teaching and Learning on, matters related to the Writing and Reading in the Majors policy. WORKLOAD:
