Jo-Ann Bulf Memorial Scholarship

portrait of Jo-Ann Bulf

Josephine Ann (Jo-Ann) Bulf was a dedicated administrative assistant for nearly 25 years with the College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics. In 1997 she was diagnosed with cancer. For the next two years, she was in and out of treatment while continuing to work. Her beloved colleagues donated 1,000 hours of their sick leave—the most ever raised—to help her when she was too ill to work. Throughout her life, Jo-Ann maintained the strength to believe – to go on – to fight the war against cancer until 1999 when the disease was just too much for her. Prior to her death, she requested a scholarship be set up at NSM for students to carry on this fight. This is that scholarship. To honor and highlight Jo-Ann’s contributions to the culture of the college, this scholarship awards to College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics (NSM) students, with preference given to students involved in faculty-mentored student research projects related to women’s health issues, cancer, or genetic disorders.
