Student FAQ
SEE stands for the Science Educational Equity. SEE is an academic support program housed in the Center for Science and Math Success in the College of Natural Science and Mathematics. SEE provides a students with a community, advising, peer mentoring, activities, networking and resources to help them be successful in the STEM majors who want to go on into health, research, teaching, policy or STEM workforce and serve their community.
Interested students will need to complete an online application. Applications are accepted on a rolling admissions and takes about 1-2 weeks for a student to hear back about their admission status.Apply Here
- Undgergraduate student
- At least one year to graduation
- Majoring or Minoring in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Geography, Gelogy, Mathematics & Statistics, Physics & Astronomy
and/or
- Career goal of STEM Research, Teaching, Policy Making, Workforce, or healthcare (Physician, Physician Assistant, Pharmacy, Dental, Optometry, Podiarty, or Veterinarian)
No specific GPA is required to join
Applications will be accepted on a rolling admission each semester. Once the application has been started you will have two weeks to complete otherwise you will have to restart the application process.
New students will need to meet with a SEE Ambassador once accepted. You will then be required to meet with a SEE Advisor at least once per academic year, participate in at least 4 activities each academic year (2 per semester) and be active on the SEE Canvas page.
All new students accepted into the program will be required to meet with a SEE Ambassador at least 2 times per semester for their first year in the program.
No, you only need to apply once. Students who have not been active for more than a year might be required to reapply.
Faculty & Staff FAQ
Faculty and staff interested in being involved with SEE can
- Be a SEE advisor ( 1 hour of your time per week)
- Be a reserach mentor
- Help organize events
SEE Program Donors & Supporter FAQ
There are two ways someone can support the SEE Program (1) Financially and (2) Service.
Financially
Providing a one time donation or reoccuring donation to help support SEE and the SEE students.
You can also meet with our Director of Development to discuss other options of financally support SEE.
Service
- Being a guest speaker/panelist
- Serving as a mentor
- Having a student shadow you
