CSU Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation at Sacramento State
Initated in 1993-1994, the California State University Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (CSU-LSAMP) is an alliance of the 23 campuses of the California State University (CSU) system which supports a coordinateed and compreshensive system-wide approach to broadening participation in science, technology, engineerin, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. Each of the CSU campuses has a CSU-LSAMP program that offers an array of activities and services designed to improve the retention and graduation of undergraduate students in STEM. In addition, CSU-LSAMP seeks to increase the number of CSU-LSAMP students who enter a STEM graduate program.
The CSU-LSAMP at Sacramento State Program provides the following activities and opportunities:
- One on One Advising
- Research Opportunities
- Graduate Preparation
- Application assistance
- Statement of Purpose assistance
- Resources for GRE preparation
- Workshops & Guest Speakers
- Support to attend local, regional, and national conferences
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligibile to participate in CSU-LSAMP, students must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Be enrolled at a participating campus in an undergradute major in a STEM discipline or have expressed an interest in pursuing a STEM baccalaureate degree
- Be an individual who has faced or faces social, educational, or economic barriers to careers in STEM

Program for Recognition of Outstanding Undergraduate Distinction (PROUD)
The CSU-LSAMP Statewide Office each year produces a publication The CSU- LSAMP Program for Recognition of Undergraduate Distinction (CSU-LSAMP PROUD), which recognizes and highlights the achievements of outstanding CSU-LSAMP students from all 23 CSU campuses. Students are recognized for their outstanding academic performance, research accomplishments, service, and leadership, and/or personal triumph.
