What is Active-Learning?
Active Learning is an educational approach where students are actively involved in the learning process.
In Project-ACE, this involves Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Course Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) to get students thinking and engaging with the material. These PBL and CURE active LEarning activities are categorized as Authentic Learning Activities, as they incorporate practices used by professionals in the real field.
Here are some key points about active learning:
- Student-centered: Active learning focuses on how students learn, not just what they learn.
- Engagement: Students are encouraged to think critically, analyze information, and apply their knowledge to solve problems.
- Benefits: Research shows that active learning can lead to better academic achievement, deeper understanding of concepts, and improved critical thinking skills.
