About Computer Engineering
Academic Programs
Computer Engineering has some of its roots in programming languages, software design, and operating systems from Computer Science, it also has roots from Electrical Engineering, namely circuit theory, electronics, and hardware design. Computer Engineering is particularly strong in the areas of computer architecture, computer hardware, logic design, digital signal processing and networking.
Sacramento State was one of the early Universities to offer a BS in Computer Engineering degree in the State of California. Today, most Engineering Universities in the USA offer such a degree in some fashion. At Sac State, this degree is offered through a joint program sponsored by the Computer Science Department and the Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department. This arrangement has the advantage of support from two strong departments.
Accreditation
The Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology.
