Interview
How did your doctorate prepare you for this particular career trajectory?
Holding the doctoral "title" solidified my credibility. It's pretty evident that as "Suzie" I spoke, but as Dr. Dollesin I am heard. Each course in the Ed.D. program expanded my knowledge and strengthened my capacity to analyze the complexities and tease out the minutiae across some of the most challenging aspects in education. The research and completion of my dissertation furthered my expertise in strategic planning towards productive resolve.
Transformative Leadership means …
An astute awareness to readily redirect internal and external dialogue towards positive outcomes.
Advice for Prospective Ed.D. Students?
Base your decisions on who you want to become, not on what you want others to see in you, and then find a role model who inspires you to dare to be you.
Did any faculty really support you?
Dr. Robert Wassmer played a significant role in my successful completion of the Ed.D. program and professional growth. He expanded my intellect beyond yet coupled with perspectives in education by encouraging me to investigate additional informative readings, statistical research, and data analysis platforms, as well as participate in pertinent public policy forums. Essentially, Dr. Wassmer forced me to think outside of the box, but he kept me focused and was tactful in redirecting my frustrations towards purposeful gains.
