U-Nite! 2024 is Canceled
As you may know, the College of Arts & Letters at Sacramento State has been working hard with our partners at Capital Public Radio to bring our annual fall event, U-Nite, to their world class performance venue at CapRadio Live.
However, despite all good faith efforts to ensure CapRadio Live was ready to host U-Nite ‘24, all parties have agreed that the venue is not yet ready to host a full capacity event. As we know, some work remains unfinished, which becomes more significant when we’re expecting a full house with full operations.
Given the late date of this news and the difficulty finding an alternative venue that promises comparable functionality for our event as planned, I have come to the determination that the best path forward for the college and our partners is to cancel U-Nite ’24.
I know this is unfortunate news that will disappoint our student interns and volunteers, as well as our talented faculty performers and presenters, as they have been working diligently in preparation with the expectation to showcase their talents and skills at this event. But I take comfort in knowing that even disappointment and cancellation provide an opportunity for our students to learn and grow, better preparing them for the twists and turns of professional life in the arts and events industries.
From this disappointment, however, I am pleased to share that we are committed to building on all that we have learned this fall and for our partnership with CPR to continue. We are already planning for CapRadio Live to be the community-based venue for several of the events that make up our Festival of the Arts this coming spring. We look forward to our students, our faculty, and our community partners to join us in celebrating all that this world-class venue has to offer!
I want to thank you all for your supportive collaboration!
