Community Partnerships

history students looking at historic mapsCommunity partnerships are the cornerstone of any public history program. We consider Sacramento our learning laboratory and take pride in the many organizations who collaborate with us in telling the stories of the people of California. The Public History program partners with community organizations and institutions through class projects, thesis projects, and internships. We partner with organizations and institutions in our local, regional, state, and national community.

Public History students and faculty at the Sacramento Archives Crawl in 2016Evidence of our partnership projects can be found in repositories and institutions throughout the region. In addition to more traditional works such as articles, written theses, and administrative histories, our public history works include museum exhibits, podcasts, oral histories, digitized archives, and ongoing involvement in community programs and institutions.National Register nominations, city designations, and cultural resource management projects preserve our natural and built landscapes in many communities. Sacramento State public history students put history to work in the world. We also participate in community events including the Sacramento Archives Crawl, History Days, and the Sacramento Tour of Historic Homes. Please visit our Projects and Events page to see what our public historians do!

The Capital Campus Public History Program is always seeking new partners, projects, creative ideas, and opportunities. If you or your organization is interested in collaborating with our public historians, please contact Dr. Anne Lindsay, Program Coordinator, at publichistory@csus.edu.
