Combat U FAQ
How do I sign up to participate in Combat U?
To participate in Combat U, please fill out the interest form.
Who can participate in Combat U?
Combat U is open to all Sacramento State students. Each team will have male and female participants with all levels of experience. All participants will need to be enrolled as students (undergraduate or graduate) at Sacramento State.
Will these teams compete at the NCAA Division I level?
The Combat U programs will not be NCAA sanctioned. The teams will compete at the club level, and each will be under the governing rules of their respective organizations.
Will scholarships be available?
Select Combat U student-athletes will have the opportunity to receive scholarships.
If you are already a student, when should I start to get some info?
Please attend one of our Informational Sessions: every Tuesday on Zoom or every Friday on Campus.
Do Sac State students get a discount at the Ultimate gym?
Yes, they do; unlimited access to Ultimate Fitness as a Sac State Student is $99/Month additionally.
Is Combat U a class? How many units are there?
Yes, it is currently in the process of being constructed.
Do I have to apply to Combat U?
To the program itself, no, it will be offered in class format. Students must be current or newly admitted to participate in Combat U.
Can Spring 2025 applicants start training?
Currently, no unless admitted or they take the course via Open University.
What is the evaluation for? Those who want to fight or join Combat U?
The Evaluation is for those who want to pursue fighting seriously from an Amateur level or the opportunity to be part of the Pro Prep MMA portion that will be held at Urijah’s Ultimate Fitness.
Do you know if beginners will be able to compete?
That will be based on the Coaches of each discipline, but yes, in short.
Will this be seasonal or year-round?
It will be year-round.
Do you know how much it will cost to join Combat U?
Currently nothing if you are a Sac State Student or take Open University credit.
If I’m still in the application process, may I still train?
No, unless taken through an Open University.
If you are an admitted student, are you allowed to train this month?
No, the train will start in the Fall of 2024.
