Occasionally, departments may need to consider temporary employment options to address vacancies, special projects and strategic goals.

Non-Recruited, Temporary Staff Positions
Effective January 29, 2024, all requests to hire staff/MPP positions, including temporary appointments of emergency hires and special consultants, will require approval. Adobe Sign Request Form
Casual Workers are hired on a part-time, temporary, and intermittent basis to perform non-bargaining unit work that meets the "non-exempt" criteria of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Helper/Aids perform a variety of simple clerical or manual tasks. This classification is designed to employ minimally qualified individuals with little or no work experience in conjunction with a formalized training program. (Note: hiring process is the same as CHRS Emergency Hire hiring process)
Emergency Hires are subject to specific bargaining unit appointment timelines (e.g. 90 - 180 days)
Management Positions
Interim MPP Appointments may be requested during a vacancy or special project.
