Parking and Directions

Parking Info & Directions for venues used for Sacramento State events.

Daily parking on campus is $8, 2 hour permits are $4. Daily/hourly permits are valid for Student/Daily spaces only during peak hours M-F until 4:30pm. During off-peak hours (M-F 4:30pm-midnight and weekends), daily permits are also valid in Faculty/Staff spots. Please be sure to check signage carefully!

Permits may be purchased at self-serve kiosks throughout the parking lots/structures as well as through PayByPhone. License plate numbers are required as all permits are now virtual. Exact change is required to use cash in the kiosks. Visa, MasterCard and OneCard are also accepted for payment. Parking rules are enforced 24 hours a day. Getting here

NORTH (J STREET) ENTRANCE:

  1. Enter campus at 6000 J Street (at Carlson Drive), about a half-mile west of Howe Avenue.

SOUTH (COLLEGE TOWN) ENTRANCE:

  • From the east:
    1. Take Highway 50 west to the Howe Avenue/Power Inn Road exit.
    2. Go through the stoplight to College Town Drive. At the third stoplight, you will see campus.
  • From the west:
    1. Take Highway 50 east to Howe Avenue/Power Inn Road exit. Stay in the right exit lane and take the exit for "Cal State Univ Sacramento," which will circle you under the freeway.
    2. Make a left at the stoplight onto College Town Drive.
    3. At the second light, you will see campus.

The Athletic Center is at the far end of the Parking Lot 1 on the right.

  • From the South entrance:
    1. Continue on College Town Drive past the stadium all the way around campus, past 2 stop signs and the traffic circle.
    2. Turn right at the stoplight onto State University Drive.
    3. At the stop sign, turn right into Parking Lot 1.
  • From the North entrance:
    1. Go straight past the stop light at Arboretum Way to the stop sign before the bus stop, then turn right into Lot 1.


Parking

There are free 30 minute spaces on either end of Lot 1.

Planetarium

  • From the South entrance:
    1. Turn right on State University Drive.
    2. At the 3rd stop sign, turn left.
    3. Follow the service road to the entrance of Parking Structure 2.
  • From the North entrance:
    1. Use the left lane, going straight as you enter campus.
    2. Turn left at the stop sign, past the bus stop, then veer right to stay on State University Drive.
    3. After a stoplight by the residence halls, turn right at the 3rd stop sign.
    4. Follow the service road to the entrance of Parking Structure 2.

  • Paid ticketed events include free parking on the TOP FLOOR of Parking Structure 2 ONLY, starting 1 hour prior to event start time. There is no free parking for Field Trips.
  • Daily/hourly parking permits (valid in student parking spaces) are required otherwise. To purchase an $8 daily (or $4 two-hour) parking permit:
    • Sign up for a PayByPhone account and download the app. When you arrive on campus, enter location number "5115" into the app to pay your parking fee.
    • When you arrive on campus, pay with cash or credit at any permit machine located in all student parking lots/structures; view the campus map for locations.

Passenger Loading

Dropping off guests? There is a small parking lot of temporary parking spaces between the Bookstore and the Planetarium entrance that will get a vehicle the closest possible.

Athletics Venues

  • From the South entrance:
    1. Continue on College Town Drive past the stadium.
    2. At the first stop sign, make a right on to Sinclair Road.
    3. Turn right into Parking Structure 1.
    4. When you exit the parking structure, cross Sinclair Road to the walking path and pass Shea Stadium (softball field) to reach the entrance to Hornet Field.
  • From the North entrance:
    1. Stay in the right lane as you drive on campus, then turn right at the light onto Arboretum Way.
    2. At the 2nd stop sign, turn left on Sinclair Road
    3. Turn right into the Parking Structure 1.
    4. When you exit the parking structure, cross Sinclair Road to the walking path and pass Shea Stadium (softball field) to reach the entrance to Hornet Field.

Parking

For all home games, guests may park for free in designated spaces, beginning one hour prior to the start of the game.

  • From the South entrance:
    1. Continue West on College Town Drive to Stadium Drive.
    2. Veer right before the drive-up info booth and turn right into Lot 8. You can also access Lot 7 or PS3 from here.
  • From the North entrance:
    1. Go past the light, then turn left at the stop sign near the bus drop.
    2. Curve to the right on State University Drive.
    3. Turn right into Parking lot 7 at the 5th stop sign.

Parking

Parking for football games is $10 per car, $25 per RV cash only, paid to parking attendants in Lots 7 and 8 starting 4 hours prior to kick-off. Parking for Track & Field meets is free in Lot 10.

  • From the South entrance:
    1. Continue on College Town Drive past the stadium.
    2. At the first stop sign, turn right on Sinclair Road.
    3. Turn right into Parking Structure 1, adjacent to John Smith Field.
    4. Enter just past the ticket booth along College Town Drive.
  • From the North entrance:
    1. Stay in the right lane as you drive on campus.
    2. Turn right at the light onto Arboretum Way.
    3. At the 2nd stop sign, turn left on Sinclair Road.
    4. Turn right into Parking Structure 1.

Parking

For night games and all weekends: Free parking on the top floor of Parking Structure I, located just north of the stadium behind the left field wall, beginning one hour prior to first pitch.

For weekday day games: Free parking in Lot 10 located south of the football stadium or fans can purchase a parking permit for Parking Structure I located just north of the baseball stadium.

The Nest is the South Gym in Yosemite Hall.

  • From the South entrance:
    1. Continue on College Town Drive past the stadium.
    2. At the first stop sign, make a right on Sinclair Road.
    3. Turn right to park in Parking Structure 1.
    4. When you exit the parking structure on foot, follow Sinclair Road towards Capistrano Hall.
    5. Turn left to walk down Moraga Way.
    6. Walk past the bike compound and continue past the Central Plant and Solano Hall to Yosemite Hall.
  • From the North entrance:
    1. Stay in the right lane as you drive on campus, then turn right at the light onto Arboretum Way.
    2. At the 2nd stop sign, you will see Parking Structure 1.
    3. Turn left on Sinclair Road, then right into Parking Structure 1.
    4. When you exit the parking structure on foot, follow Sinclair Road towards Capistrano Hall.
    5. Turn left to walk down Moraga Way.
    6. Walk past the bike compound and continue past the Central Plant and Solano Hall to Yosemite Hall.

Parking

Free parking for Weekend softball games is offered in the student/daily spaces of Parking Structure I. Weekday parking is only offered on the top floor of Parking Structure I. Daily/hourly parking permits are required otherwise.

School of Music Venues

Please note off-campus locations

  • From the South entrance:
    1. Continue on College Town Drive past the stadium.
    2. Turn right at the stop sign on Sinclair Rd.
    3. Turn right into Parking Structure 1.
  • From the North entrance:
    1. Stay in the right lane as you drive on campus , then turn right at the light onto Arboretum Way.
    2. Continue on the main road around the traffic circle.
    3. Turn left at the stop sign on Sinclair Road.
    4. Turn right into Parking Structure 1.

Parking

Ticketed events DO NOT include free parking. Daily/hourly parking permits are required. Parking Structure 1 is adjacent to Capistrano Hall and the closest parking area.

Off campus venue: 1019 11th St, Sacramento, CA 95814

Seating is general admission. Doors open approximately 30 minutes prior to start time. Late arrivers may be asked to wait in the lobby for a break in the performance to avoid disturbance. Choir performances last approximately 90 minutes.

Paid parking is available at Capitol Garage (corner of 10th and L) or City Hall Garage (11th St between I and J Streets). Please click here to see current parking rates.

Free parking is available on the street and also in the underground garage at the Sutter Imaging Center next to the church. Enter the valet area from Capitol Ave and immediately turn left to go down to the parking garage.

Off campus venue: 1701 L Street, Sacramento

Seating is general admission. Doors open approximately 30 minutes prior to start time. Late arrivers may be asked to wait in the lobby for a break in the performance to avoid disturbance. Choir performances last approximately 90 minutes.

Free parking is available in the parking structure located at 1714 K St.

Off campus venue: 1300 N St, Sacramento, CA 95814

Seating is general admission. Doors open approximately 30 minutes prior to start time. Late arrivers may be asked to wait in the lobby for a break in the performance to avoid disturbance. Choir performances last approximately 90 minutes.

Parking

Free parking is available at the church's parking lot, accessible off of 13th and the N St/O St Alley. Street (metered) parking is also available.

Theatre & Dance Venues

Both theatres are in Shasta Hall across the road from Lot 2/adjacent to the gravel lot.

  • From the South entrance:
    1. Make a right on State University Drive.
    2. Continue through five stop signs, turn left into the gravel lot just past Shasta Hall.
  • From the North entrance:
    1. Use the left lane, going straight as you enter campus.
    2. Turn left at the stop sign, past the bus stop, then veer right to stay on State University Drive.
    3. Go through one stoplight, then turn right into the gravel/dirt lot just before Shasta Hall.

Parking

Ticketed events DO NOT include free parking. Semester/Daily/hourly parking permits are required. Lot 2 across from the Playwrights Theatre and Lot 2a, the gravel/dirt lot next to Shasta Hall are the closest places to park for events in Shasta Hall.

The Dancespace is on the Southeast corner of Solano Hall, across from Mariposa Hall on Moraga Way.

  • From the south entrance:,
    1. Continue on College Town Drive past the stadium. Parking Structure 1 can be seen at the first stop sign.
    2. Turn right onto Sinclair Road, then right again into Parking Structure 1.
    3. When you exit PS1 on foot, follow Sinclair Road towards Capistrano Hall.
    4. Turn left to walk down Moraga Way.
    5. Walk past the bike compound and continue past the Central Plant.
  • From the north entrance:
    1. Stay in the right lane as you drive on campus, then turn right at the light onto Arboretum Way.
    2. At the 2nd stop sign, you will see Parking Structure 1.
    3. Turn left on Sinclair Road, then right into the structure.
    4. When you exit the parking structure on foot, follow Sinclair Road towards Capistrano Hall.
    5. Turn left to walk down Moraga Way.
    6. Walk past the bike compound and continue past the Central Plant.

Parking

Ticketed events DO NOT include free parking. Daily/hourly parking permits are required. The closest parking to the Dancespace/Solano Hall is either Parking Structure 1 or Parking Structure 5.

The Studio Theatre entrance is on the West side of The Outpost, a building that shares space with Saigon Bay Express. The closest place to park is Parking Structure 1, with just Capistrano Hall between the theatre and the parking structure.

  • From the South entrance:
    1. Continue on College Town Drive past the stadium.
    2. Turn right at the stop sign on Sinclair Rd.
    3. Turn right into Parking Structure 1.
  • From the North entrance:
    1. Stay in the right lane as you drive on campus , then turn right at the light onto Arboretum Way.
    2. Continue on the main road around the traffic circle.
    3. Turn left at the stop sign on Sinclair Road.
    4. Turn right into Parking Structure 1.

On weekends and M-F after 4:30pm, daily/student passes are valid in PS1's carpool spaces, but not the employee spaces. Find all off-peak parking rules here.

Studio Theatre Location

Need any help finding the hidden gem that is the Studio Theatre? The entrance is a little hard to find if you're not sure what to look for.

The building is called The Outpost and is also home to Saigon Bay Express on the NE side of the building. There's a mural on the South side facing a colorful outdoor gathering area, and the entrance faces the walkway that connects to Capistrano Hall.
