(GHS, NFPA)

NFPA Hazard Identification System

BLUE Diamond Health Hazard (4:  Deadly – 0: Normal Material)
RED Diamond Fire Hazard (Flash Point) (4:  Below 73 °F – 0:  Will Not Burn)
YELLOW Diamond Reactivity (4 May Detonate - 0 Stable)
WHITE Diamond Special Hazard:
(ACID – Acid/ALK – Alkali/COR – Corrosive/OXY – Oxidizer/☢ – Radioactive/– Use No Water)

Globally Harmonized System (GHS)

What is the CAS number?

CAS Registry Number:  is a unique numerical identifier assigned by the Chemical Abstracts Service

(CAS) to every chemical substance

Why do halogenated organic wastes need to be separated from non-halogenated organic wastes?

This is because the disposal cost for halogenated materials is significantly higher than that for non-halogenated.
