Gerri L. Smith received her B.A. from Michigan State University in 1980 and her Ph.D. from Ohio University in 1988.

She specializes in Organizational and Small Group Communication and currently teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Her research interests include examining organizations from a cultural perspective, critically understanding gender roles in organizations and studying mentoring relationships in academic settings.

She is actively involved in the CSUS Center for Teaching and Learning as a faculty mentor.
