Planetary Magnetic Fields

Several distinct regions of a magnetosphere are found:

  • Bow Shock: region where particles 1st feel the effects of a planet’s magnetic field
  • Magnetosheath: Transition region between the planet’s and interplanetary medium’s magnetic fields
