- Describe a time when a teacher used technology in instruction. (3-5 minutes)
- Be ready to describe the lesson
- What was the context for the use of technology? (What preceded this lesson
and what was the follow-up?).
- What did you do with both the technology and the content?
- How did this method of teaching affect your learning?
- What could have been done differently to improve the learning outcome?
2. Form small groups of 3 to 4 students. (20 minutes)
- Take 2-3 minutes each to share your experience.
- What the teacher's overall goals were for the class?
- Thinking about the goal(s) of the teacher, what did the technology do to
contribute to the overall goals of the teacher?
- Why do you think the teachers chose to use technology?
- Discuss and record commonalities and differences in the experiences of your
group.
- Pick something you think your students should demonstrate--by the end of
the school year (such as critical thinking, self-esteem, good citizen, cooperative...)
and discuss with your group how technology can or cannot support your goal.
3. Choose a way to share your group's conclusions with the rest of the class.
