Sample Gradebook

Here is an example of a simple gradebook. The colums are averaged for the class average. The rows are added up and then divided by the total number of points allowed for the assignments to get the percentage grade. This was all done using formulas, they are the magic of Excel. The formulas are simple. Here are some samples:

Average: =AVERAGE(B8:B21)

Sum: =SUM(B8:K8)

Division: =L20/1000

The cells would change depending on where you insert the formula.Notice the equal sign, that tells Excel that a formula is going to be used. The B8:B21 means to average all the cells in that range, that is, B8, B9, B10....B21. Same with the sum.

The colored cells have the formulas. The rest of the cells are just numbers that the formulas use.

Once again remember, the actual cells for yours will be different. The Basic Excel Tutorial in TaskStream explains how this works.
