In A Whack on the Side of the Head, Roger Von Oech explains how the fool looks at the world. Rather than consulting the Oracle this time, Von Oech urges us to look at our problem and say, "It's not what everyone thinks it is." (Pg 122)

For this Whack, your project team will present your project idea(s) to another team - a team studying a very different problem. Humor others with your project while you force them to make a joking connection between your project and some other chosen object.

Here's how it works:

• Before looking at another team's problem, choose an object (animated or otherwise) from a list your team brainstorms.
• Select another team at random and have that team present its problem to your team.
• Similarly, your team presents your problem to that team.
• Now, the ball is in the other court for both of you.
• Meet separately with your team and use humor to examine the other team's problem while comparing the problem to the object your team chose in step one above.
• Present your humorous views to the other team.

Your team may be presented with some sage advice from fools. Proceed with your project ideas with a fresh perspective.
