Dave-s Rules for Geological Jeopardy
Return to Geological Jeopardy
- There are two teams.
- Each team will put forward one player at a time.
- A player remains active until both she and her counterpart (or he and his counterpart) have had an opportunity to select a clue.
- Active players must stand.
- All responses must be in the form of a question.
- Play will alternate between players as follows:
- Teams "A" and "B" will be determined by a coin toss.
- Player for team A will have the opportunity to choose a category and respond to a clue.
- If the player for team A responds incorrectly, or does not respond within 10 seconds, the player for team B will have 5 seconds to respond correctly.
- If neither the player for team A nor team B respond correctly within the allotted time,
Alex Trebeck Dave Evans will state that "The question is open to the floor," meaning that anyone can respond. When a question is open to the floor respondents can raise their hands and shout "I know" and wait to be called on. Correct responses from the floor earn points for the respondent's team. There is no time limit for questions that are open to the floor.
- Following a correct response, the player for team B will have the opportunity to choose a category and respond to the clue.
- Opportunities to choose a category and provide the initial response will alternate between team A and team B.
- Books and notes can be used.
- Incorrect responses loose points for the respondent's team.
- Each team must keep tract of their own score and their opponent's score.
- The ruling of the judge is final.
- Dave is the judge.
