Guided Reflections (Units 1 & 2)
The Guided Reflection assignment asks you to look more closely at the real world scenarios considered for Application Exercises. For each unit, you choose and study in depth an assigned practice listed in one of the two reading guides for the relevant unit, and explore connections between that assigned Asian practice and a daily practice you create for yourself. Based on this in-depth exploration, you then advise the group described in the contemporary scenario for the Application Exercise addressing your chosen Asian practice. Although the steps in the Guided Reflection process are clearly laid out, the multiple stages of thinking and planning involved make it the most challenging task you will undertake in this and most other similar courses, requiring you to develop more fully the skills briefly explored in the Application Exercises.
Step 1: Worksheet
Choose one Asian practices listed in one of the two reading guides for the relevant unit, which you feel you could use to make a case for the corresponding contemporary practice in the relevant scenario.
Make sure that
- the Asian practice is described in the unit just completed (India for Unit 1, China for Unit 2).
- you focus on information about that practice found in readings assigned
or recommended in
the syllabus,
making sure to include **ASSIGNED** EB articles, PPTs, videos linked to the schedule as well as those viewed in class.
- you look closely at the terms listed in BLUE for that practice on the relevant reading guide page.
***IMPORTANT: the contemporary practice for which you are making a case to the City Repair staff should be labeled with the same letter in the same scenario.***
Once you have chosen your practice and have in mind the corresponding contemporary practice, you will complete all three parts of the "Guided Reflection Worksheet" (PDF/MS Word), addressing at least four of the terms listed in BLUE for that practice on the relevant reading guide page. CAUTION: Novice writers are often surprised at the amount of time and focus it takes to formulate and then fully respond to all questions on the GRW, especially given that this is only the first stage of the assignment, so budget your time accordingly. Experienced writers recognize that this multistage process is essential to creating a solid final product (Step 3).
A completed worksheet will receive 25 out of the total number of points for the assignment. No partial credit will be given; incomplete forms will be returned for completion.

IMPORTANT: the structure of this sample works is NOT the same as the current format, so the responses will help you see what is being asked for. Since the format is from a previous term, however, Λ™the numbering and some of the wording is different, so MAKE SURE TO USE THE FORM LINKED ABOVE and in the schedule.
