MSc Program
|
For complete details, go to the official webpage describing the MSc program in Biological Sciences at CSUS.
CSUS offers an M.Sc. program, but no Ph.D. program. Students in my lab might be in the No Concentration program or the Ecology, Evolution and Conservation (EEC) Concentration program, both of which require 26 units of coursework plus a research thesis (4 additional units).
For either program, there are 10 units of required courses
Bio 220: Research Methods in Biology (2 units)
Bio 294: Seminar (1 unit, must be taken twice for a total of 2 units)
Bio 299: Problems in Biological Sciences (6 units total)plus 4 units of culminating requirements, i.e., turning in an accepted thesis for Bio 500
A. For the No Concentration program, in addition to the above, the student must take
Bio 221B: Methods in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation (2 units)
Bio 282: Evolution (3 units)plus 11 units of approved electives
B. For the Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Concentration program, in addition to the above, the student must take
Bio 221B: Methods in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation (2 units)
Bio 282: Evolution (3 units)plus 11 units of approved electives
The key is the words "approved electives". These must be approved by the supervisory committee at the advancement to candidacy meeting. Courses that are appropriate for one student may not be appropriate for another
