Catalog Description: Introduction to the basic concepts of mass communication, including the effects, uses, and functions associated with the goods and services of mass media. Examination of the ways mass media combine with other institutions to affect the organization, design, and comprehension of messages, as well as political thought, cultural beliefs, and economic behavior.

and requirements. None, but Communication Studies and Journalism majors and minors must complete with a grade of "C-" of better.
Number of Units: 3
Students are encouraged to get an electronic
mail account and have computer access to the Web. All CSUS students enrolled in
one or more units can create a SacLink
account for electronic mail and Internet services. Although a home computer
with a high speed modem running Netscape or Internet Explorer would be beneficial,
students can use the Web from one of the campus
