Reptiles
There are relatively few reptiles on campus, though more are likely nearby. On campus, you are most likely to see the Western Fence Lizard on the stone walls of the greenhouse buildings on a sunny day. They bask in the sunlight. On the edge of campus, and particularly on the American River Parkway bicycle path, it is not uncommon to encounter Pacific Rattlesnakes, garter snakes and gopher snakes. The Western Pond Turtle is native to this area as well. The introduced Red Eared Slider might be found. You might find an Alligator Lizard.
