This tree, sometimes called, the Arbutus Tree, particularly up in British Columbia, is notable for two key features. First it does not drop its leaves, making it "evergreen". Secondly, the bark peels off in paperlike sheets exposing the smooth green underbark, making it easy to identify this tree.
